My Clients

Here are some of the companies for which I've shot:

Bechtel Construction
I first met Tom Flynn when he and I both worked for newspapers across the bay from San Francisco.  I was at the Chronicle when he became press secretary to S.F. Mayor Joe Alioto.  Tom hired me to do a few photo jobs for the mayor's office and, when he went to work for Bechtel in 1976, he brought me in to do major assignments for them.
Bechtel sent me around the world to photograph their various projects, had me shoot for several in-house publications, and at one point they packed me off to the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant, where I was the first photographer inside the containment building after the notorious accident.  (That was many years ago and I no longer glow in the dark.)

Transamerica Airlines
I began shooting for TransInternational Airlines, a charter and freight operation based in Oakland, while I was still at the Chronicle.  They paid for a Learjet so I could shoot air-to-air pictures of their planes and, after they changed the company name to Transamerica Airlines in 1979, sent me on trips to Spain, Greece, and Ireland.

Homestake Mining
Homestake operated the largest and deepest gold mine in North America, near Lead, South Dakota.  (Lead is very near Deadwood, if you were wondering.)  Shooting an annual report for them took me 7500 feet down into the mine.  The outside temprature was 14 degrees below zero and it was over 90 degrees at the bottom of the shaft.  It took about an hour for my lenses to un-fog!

Castle & Cooke Foods
In the mid seventies I shot a calendar for Castle & Cooke.  It was a significant assignment because it won me a gold medal in the prestigious One Show, sponsored by the Art Directors Club of New York.

The San Francisco Opera
For several years I took publicity pictures for the opera, shooting publicity pictures for every production.  I also traveled with the opera's "farm club", Western Opera Theatre, on a tour of Alaska.

Firemans Fund Insurance
I shot three annual reports for Firemans Fund, and produced photos for trade ads and in-house publications as well.

Dailey & Associates Advertising
With account executive Dick Popson I produced collateral materials for King Oscar Sardines, Crabari Wines and the Pacific Area Travel Association.  With art director Jim Stitt I shot ads for Kneisel Skis.
